Cheerleaders (Digital Playground)

Digital Playground director Robby D is on a roll -- his Babysitters was a witty, funny, sexy look at the cliches and tropes that pervade that porn stereotype, and Cheerleaders, as you might guess, is going to do the same thing for a different porn genre (one wonders where he's going to go next -- Secretaries? Nurses? Coal Miners?). Robby's great gifts as a pornographer are matched and augmented by the fact that he has the great resources of Digital Playground to draw on -- both technically, with DP's early and wise commitment to hi-def technology, and in terms of personnel, with the stable of high-end contract girls. Robby pulled out all the stops for Cheerleaders, bringing Jesse Jane, Adrianna Lynn, Shay Jordan, Sophia Santi and Stoya to the table -- one more contract girl than appeared in Babysitters. On top of that stack of talent, though, there are Alexis Texas, Brianna Love, Camryn Kiss, Lexxi Tyler, Memphis Monroe, Priya Rai and Shawna Lenee, plus the usual suspects on the male talent side.

It would be hard to make a bad movie with the casts he can assemble, and the unrelenting quality in every frame of his movies means he can get away with things other filmmakers, especially other major-studio porn makers, can't. DP's contract girls outshine almost every other studio's, across the board, as does its production values, so Robby's scripts seem fast, loose and irreverent sketches where a Vivid script would seem threadbare and shabby.

The cheerleading squad is back in the locker room after practice, and a little spat between two girls turns into a truth or dare game that reveals all the girls' indiscretions and gives them the opportunity to commit some more. The room is so full of hot girls in cheerleaders that it's hard to keep track of them, but after a certain point, you just don't feel like you need to anymore. The truth or dare game starts with Jesse confessing that she boned Memphis's boyfriend, Manuel Ferrara, while Memphis was away, then to Memphis confessing that she was actually off making some porn when Jesse was making free with Manuel. Priya dares Lexxi to suck on Sophia's nipples, and then Lexxi coaxes an admission of freshman-fucking out of Adrianna, who then gets Shay to admit just what went on in the detention hall, and then Brianna and Stoya confess to what went on in study hall. After that, the scene goes exactly where you had hoped and prayed it would -- a nine-girl cheerleader orgy. It's exactly the way you always knew it would be if you could only get a peek at the girls' locker room.

Every scene in the movie is good -- there's not a single clinker in the bunch. Jesse's the only girl who gets a non-group scene, and as always she's a firecracker. It helps that she's got Manuel Ferrara to bounce on, as he's a notorious favorite of porn actresses. The rest of the scenes are multiples -- Memphis Monroe gets Erik Everhard and Mick Blue to play with, while Adrianna Lynn shares Johnny Sinz with Shawna Lenee. Johnny shows up again in a smoking detention scene with Shay, Alexis, and Camryn Kiss, and then Stoya and Brianna have a delightfully anal encounter with Manuel instead of studying (I remember Stoya's first anal, just a few weeks ago -- she has clearly been practicing).

It's hard to pick out a winner here, but if I had to I'd say that Stoya and Brianna take the prize. Their natural bodies, contrasting skin tones, and personalities really make this scene a great one. On the other hand, the Adrianna Lynn/Shawna Lenne axis makes a strong showing in a little tale about an experienced cheerleader showing a brand-new one -- Shawna is clearly not really an innocent virgin, but she plays one for long enough to get the scene underway - the ropes. Innocence lost, hot sex, gorgeous girls…well, the detention orgy scene is a contender too, and that one's got three hot girls. Well, if hot girls is our metric, how can you beat nine? But then we're back to Jesse alone, putting out as much energy as an entire locker room full of licentious women. OK: things to look for -- Stoya's entire performance in the fourth scene, Jesse Jane shrieking like a banshee in the first, Memphis Monroe's tits, Priya Rai and Sophia Santi in the middle of a steaming Sapphic pile, Alexis Texas bending over to pick up a book, Shawna Lenne acting like a virgin…hell, just watch the whole thing. You won't be sorry.
