The only thing wrong with Tristan Taormino's Expert Guide to Oral Sex is that Tristan Taormino is an expert, and she knows it. It's exactly what you want in a person who's telling you how to do something that requires some skill, but you can never get past the feeling with Tristan that she's talking down to you a little. That said, this is probably the best instructional video for oral sex that you're likely to find. Even though the Vivid aesthetic prevails, once you're actually watching the scenes, it's a pretty sexy movie.

The guide starts off with Tristan Taormino giving a lecture on penis anatomy to a group of women; they're pretty widely varied in racial type and size, and even though they're not all particularly hot, the first thing you think is that you wouldn't mind watching these girls give head. You're not going to see it, though -- they're just going to take all their special new skills home and use them in private. All they do here is ask scripted questions ("How do I get over my gag reflex," "What if I don't have enough spit?") and smile faintly. The lecture seems pretty divorced from the audience; Tristan speaks to the camera and you don't hear any noise from the group when she's talking -- there's no ebb and flow like you would find in a classroom. Before any of the audience gets to ask any questions, Tristan brings in Roxy DeVille and Christian to demonstrate the basic blowjob, in four phases -- warmup, experiment, rhythm, and orgasm, which she explains as Roxy and Christian follow along.

Christian and Roxy's scene demonstrates the basics, and then Kaiya Lynn and Alec Knight come on for a more elaborate demo, with more positions, some more suggestions about hand vs. mouth and different techniques for what to do if you get tired or sore. Marcos Leon and Lindsay Meadows' demo involves how to deal with an uncircumcised cock and how to take one a little deeper than Kaiya or Roxy did, and when Adrianna Nicole and Alec Knight show up for the final scene, Advanced Techniques, and you get to see a pro go all the way (there are hints and tips about how to do it, but a lot of it is experience, so don't worry if you don't get it right the first time).

Each scene is shown once with popup windows and commentary from Tristan, and once in its entirety without any commentary or interruption. The second time around, you get to see all the money shots (Kaiya swallows without any fuss, so it's not really a money shot, but that's fun to see, too). Adrianna's scene is the most technically impressive, since she really gets her deep throat on, but there is a chemistry in the Lindsay Meadows' scene that comes across very strongly (in the BTS footage, Marcos says a couple of times that he needs her to slow down or he's going to pop, which speaks well of both her skills and his involvement).

Each scene gets labeled according to its style -- sensual, submissive, sloppy, et cetera -- and different techniques are highlighted in segments called out from the rest of the scenes -- 69, prostate stimulation, the aforementioned circumsized cock, and so on. The scenes, split up and repeated as they are, can be a little hard to navigate, but one gets the feeling that this movie wasn't meant to be watched while furiously jacking off and searching for the good parts. Tristan Taormino's Expert Guide to Oral Sex could be more exciting, but only at the expense of being informational; however, as mentioned before, it's the best example of its kind that I've seen. Some of the behind-the-scenes footage could have been left out -- the Q&A period already feels stilted enough without watching Tristan hand out questions for the girls to ask -- but some of it is great, like watching Marcos Leon push Lindsey away so she won't make him come too fast, or the lube taste-test. Basically, the best advice Tristan gives comes down to two things: first, respect your partner and what he or she likes and needs -- hardcore throat-fucking isn't for every girl, and a thumb up the ass isn't for every man. and second, communication is essential for both of you (the exact same advice applies when you're getting ready to try anal, too, in case you haven't seen Tristan Taromino's earlier movies).
